Open since the early 1970s a block from Yonsei and Ewha, this tiny diner earned its dish's nickname — "tear-gas ramyeon" — during the 1980s pro-democracy protests, when students ducking police tear gas would warm up here with a bowl hot enough to make their eyes water all over again. Old photos and graffiti from that era still line the walls, a rare surviving trace of Sinchon's student-movement history amid the neighborhood's newer chains and cafes.

What should you know before you order?
Open around the clock, so it works well as a very late-night stop after Sinchon's bars; it's a tiny, well-worn room, so expect close seating at busy hours.
For allergies or dietary restrictions, ask the restaurant about ingredients and preparation before ordering.

Fedra, a snack bar in Sinchon
An old ramen shop in Sinchon famous for its tear gas hangover ramen. It is a nostalgic taste made by boiling Shin Ramyun with plenty of Cheongyang chili peppers, secret sauce, and pepper, ensuring that the first bite inevitably makes you cough. Sinc

A place where the atmosphere is better than the food itself.
The hangover ramen is spicy with bean sprouts.
The dumplings and pork cutlet are all store-bought, but that's exactly the taste you get from ordering them, haha.
The Chapagetti is delicious too.

We were just looking for a second spot and were craving something spicy, so we went there.
We ordered a hangover ramen and a pork cutlet, but I guess I didn't take a picture of the cutlet, so I don't have one...
I had a hard time coughing while they were cooking the ramen, but
