Seoul 24 hours: six restaurants that never close
Six places in this guide stay open 24 hours. They are split by side of the river, so when the night runs long you can find the one nearest to you. Hours were checked when each place was listed; confirm on the map before a very late visit.
Day 1 North of the river: Hongdae, Sinchon, Hannam
Late nightGamnamujip GisasikdangPork bulgogi for one. Rice, soup and side dishes come with it, so nothing else is needed.
Late nightPhaedraOrder the signature choerutan haejang-ramyeon, a fiery instant-noodle soup loaded with clams, squid, bean sprouts and both red and green chili, and pair it with a bowl of rice.
BreakfastHannam-dong GamjatangGet the gamjatang or ppyeojjim (steamed pork spine) for two, spoon the meat and potato into the broth, and wrap bites in perilla leaves with ssamjang.
Day 2 Gangnam side: Sinsa, Sinnonhyeon, Cheongdam
Late nightYeongdong SeolleongtangOne bowl of seolleongtang per person is the whole point. A group of three or more can add the suyuk platter to share before the soup.
BreakfastHaehwaok SinnonhyeonShare the beef tendon and shank hot pot. For an individual meal, ask about the seolgomtang beef soup.
Late nightSaebyeokjipOrder the hanwoo galbitang for a clear, rich beef-rib soup at any hour, or the yukhoe bibimbap to try raw Korean beef tartare over warm rice.
